The Charity Bid to Save a Stray was founded in 2014 following 2 years of  supporting our Romanian Rescuer Cristina Paun through financial support and contractual adoptions in the UK. In 2014 we had 180 dogs in our shelter

Since 2014 our work in Romania has increased dramatically, we have 1400 dogs now in our care in our 3 locations known as Wonderland..

Wonderland -The Shelter.

Funded by our UK & German supporters we purchased a piece of land next door to our existing rented shelter land. The build was financed by a German benefactor.

The Shelter now houses around 500 dogs, The shelter is made up of indoor rooms with outdoor runs and each compound houses between 4- 6 dogs all tested for compatibility.

 

 

 

 

Wonderland -The Farm

Funded again by our German benefactor the Farm is a revolutionary idea in dog shelters in Romania.

The farm is divided into 4 sections with 4 outbuilding and a lake.

Our dogs are free running without compounds and appear to live very happily as a family.

The Farm also houses our cows and pigs.

Wonderland -The Puppy House

The house was purchased along with the land it stands in to keep our puppies, old and unvaccinated dogs out of the shelter and the farm to give them the best chance of survival.

The house currently holds all our pups waiting for their homes. They have access to the house .

​

In addition our Rescuers home is used for some of the more vulnerable dogs and our sheep, 4 horses and 1 goat.

We work closely with the local vets to ensure all our dogs have the best possible care & treatment and have monthly vet bills in excess of 2000 euros.

Offering free spay campaigns for local residents (supervised by our dogs) to teach the importance

and spay & neutering we also do education programmes with the local schools to try and ensure

future generations learn to care for dogs in Romania.

​

The 3 facilities current employ around 16 people which means we have a wages bill in excess of

6000 euros.

​

Our Rescuer Cristina Paun is a Trustee of the UK charity and is unpaid, she has a full time job

and 2 children.

A huge part of our monthly bills are covered by Cristina and her partner due to lack of financial

donations to our UK charity but this cannot be sustained indefinitely.
